Allow people to delete a map they uploaded, via the "Edit" function. Make them list a reason why, so the Moderators know whether or not to actually remove the map.
We can do a deletion queue, but the likely hood of us allowing random deletions (other than something like "this version has a serious bug, its fixed in X version") is very low. And that situation, which is fairly common, is handled by simply uploading a newer version.
The newer version available already exists. If the map didn't get automatically added to the project under the map's name either you uploaded independently instead of uploading via the old map version's upload link, or Zeeg broke the project code again. If it's the first, I can link the maps together in a few hours when I get home
I think My Account link at top right corner of the page should also have a link to a list of Articles and Reviews authored by the user.

let me add.
The current designations for the ratings are not very helpful, I think, on two levels, mainly due to their vague wordings (i.e. "neutral").
Because pretty much everything receives "neutral" rating with yellow bars, people can't really rely on the rating system to determine if it's a map they want to test out.
It also makes rating and writing reviews much less exciting because it feels like your rating won't matter. So I think if someone writes a review or rates a map without any rating, it should take effect immediately.
This will also cause more people to join in and rate maps, since the chance is, they will find some ratings disagreeable. For example, I have rated Diplo or War East 011 with 5 stars. If the rating were to show, Very Good or Good, instead of Neutral, other people who apparently find that undeserved will provide their own ratings. That, despite its potential flaws, will at least bring multiple ratings per map, and it would be much more reliable indicator than say 1 rating with "Neutral" designation that is prevalent in the status quo.
Dcramer, you promised a lot of new changes maybe half a year ago, and I haven't seen any of them materialize.
Let me repeat. Nibbits need a better "economy" with more features and incentives to earn coins and experience points. It could be just a little more, and that could trigger an exponential growth of activity with feedback between increases in contents and in users.
-----
I'm also sick of the small guild of snobby close-minded elitist mapmakers (and perhaps their puppet accounts) who rate and review maps amongst themselves and snob or ignore contributions made by others outside the circle (which seems to be centered around staredit.net). I also suspect that some of the seemingly anonymous users with very little activity who have given my maps bad ratings are hackers who have stalked me on bnet (using hacks - see this youtube vid - made by Eric Frost, aka Allah, in Chicago).
I think the only way this will change is if more "normal" people were on nibbits (and thats if nibbits were to become bigger), thereby neutralizing this systemic bias toward hardcore maniacs of the sc hacker culture.
dokebi, I definitely want to get some of these things in, I just haven't had time. Nibbits is and always has been a personal project which I fiddle with in my spare time. Being that I recently moved cross country for a new job I'm still adjusting and haven't had a lot of time to keep things updated lately. You should be seeing some changes though in the near future.
There should be a "report as spam" option in messages. Not that it's too bad of an issue yet, but there have been blatantly spam comments, talking about something I don't care about (at the mention of "football" I immediately ignore the message ;P)
I mean you can check the Author name within the map with the name choosed from Nibbits. Some vary version of Names should be possible, but main parts, let's say at least 4-5 Letters or so have to be the same.
I don't like that everybody can edit or change every map.. you should get some option to accept author-ownership and bind maps to your account. So only the original creator of the map can edit it in detail.. but still people could suggest map updates that need to be approved (because some authors may not work on a map anymore but let others continue it).. I would like to see such an option..
And maybe more an update feature than reuploading maps.. I've seen it at Shadow_Templar's Profile.. In total there were 74 maps, but actually he only created 4 or 5, the rest are copies, old versions.. not that cool :/
SkyRipper, once you claim a map we respect authorship. Anyone can still edit it, just like before, but it still requires approval. We *always* require approval of any edit unless its made by the author themselves.
I came across this site a few days ago and it seems to live up to its boast of hosting the largest StarCraft custom maps database on the internet. I would like to make some requests if I may;
1. Black background for text would be preferable imo.
2. Someone was talking about the site http://www.epicwar.com in another thread and I wanted to point out some things about it that might be implemented. The alternating background colors when browsing maps, the somewhat larger minimap displayed when browsing maps, also it uses the whole screen instead of 4:3 aspect ratio but I don't really care about that.
3. There are links that use a very light blue/purple-grey that I can barely see such as the numbers displayed right of the map categories and on the maps page underneath 'Popular' or 'New' where there are 3 tabs each.
4. Nibbler should have a link on the homepage or under the maps home page. edit: Nibbler seems to be downloading everything with a name like this now 'Rush%20Episode%201%20v1.0@1.14' don't know what happened it was working fine at first
5. I have seen others complain about this and it kinda bothers me to, that is no page numbers..
6. Would like to see more info while browsing maps without having to click or hover over it, like category, style, size, author etc. That way you could sort by that info as well.
7. this has already been mentioned also, different versions of the same map pop up when browsing. For example this map- 'Sorcery II RPG vBETA 3.0'/'Sorcery II RPG vBETA4.6.scx'/'Sorcery II RPGvBETA4.7.scx'. (I say browsing not searching, and I did not come across the most updated map first.)
8. I'm not sure what purpose the rank system is supposed to serve, if there is already an opinion meter what does it matter to know what rank a map is out of 12,000 other than just for the fun of it? Also you grade by stars but you see a bar instead when browsing, maybe a percentage or letter grades would be better.
Well thats all I got. This is probably an ignorant question but the number of maps in the map categories do not add up to anywhere near 12,000. Are all the rest under Uncategorized or ah, whats goin on there? :D
(sc1) There seems to be about 4,625 uncategorized maps (not counting duplicates). My #1 request would probably have to be getting these maps categorized. That might take these flying monkeys I keep hearing about awhile to do though..
I was wondering if there could be a feature to finalize a map, where y'know, it can't be updated or changed in anyway. I think it's a useful feature to protect maps from fake updates.

I question this, my map was changed without my approval by somebody by the name "prouze". Why didn't it ask for approval?

I was wondering if it's possible to integrate maps belonging to a group of maps. Could be helpful for maps that follow a Storyline, or just plain old map packs.

Map ladders or perhaps some kind of custom RPG. I think that's what he's saying. One thing though is that nibbits has mentioned in the download page. "If the file is a .zip you must first extract it befor using it. I've never tried uploading a .zip but it might be possible already.
I don't think it's possible to upload a .zip, I've gone over the parsing scripts that make the map previews and handle the uploads, and afaik .zip isn't an allowed extension.
I'm a bound by the forum software the Django developers/community made (it's not phpBB). I'll look if there's an update available that adds extra features..
Yes, needed. It will only confuse visitors.
We can do a deletion queue, but the likely hood of us allowing random deletions (other than something like "this version has a serious bug, its fixed in X version") is very low. And that situation, which is fairly common, is handled by simply uploading a newer version.
There are currently 3 versions of Episode I - Shelak Xel'Naga Vortex - beta_01.SC2Map at Nibbits, but only one is needed, the latest.
My only concern is possible confusion.
Perhaps a solution then is a very obvious semi transparent stamp, applied from a checkbox, that says something like "newer version available".
Also perhaps a password system for those that upload maps.
This site is about hosting Starcraft 2 maps and those that upload maps would benefit from greater control, interaction and presentation of their maps.
You do ask for feedback! ;)
The newer version available already exists. If the map didn't get automatically added to the project under the map's name either you uploaded independently instead of uploading via the old map
version's upload link, or Zeeg broke the project code again. If it's the first, I can link the maps together in a few hours when I get home

Map Packs
I was wondering if it's possible to integrate maps belonging to a group of maps. Could be helpful for maps that follow a Storyline, or just plain old map packs.
Elaborate a bit, not sure on what you mean

What I meant was to have a way to identify maps easier as a part of a series, for a storyline of some sort.
defenetly need the ability to move seperate posts from one thread to other threads!!!
poeple posting crap for enything where ever they find and delete its not a solution always!
that again
