  • The Tri-City Americans increased their winning streak to four games and continue to lead the U.S. Division after a 4-3 shoot-out win against the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday night in Western Hockey League action. Justin Feser scored the winner in the shootout as Malte Stromwall, Mason Wilgosh and Patrick Holland scored in regulation for the Americans (14-5-0). Curtis Valk scored twice and Hunter Shinkaruk added a single for the Tigers (14-5-2). Ty Rimmer made 25 saves for the win while Tyler Bunz stopped 30 shots in defeat. Tri-City went 2-for-3 on the power play as Medicine Hat failed to score on three opportunities with the man advantage. Elsewhere in the WHL, it was: Brandon 4, Swift Current 1; Red Deer 5, Kamloops 3; Moose Jaw 3, Regina 2 (OT); Seattle 5, Calgary 4; Portland 6, Spokane 5 (SO); Kelowna 2, Edmonton 1 (SO) and Prince George 4, Everett 1. In Medicine Hat, Alta., Valk opened the scoring 1:58 into the game, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead. At 12:12, Holland tied the game at one with a power-play goal. Valk scored his second goal of the game just over a minute later to give Medicine Hat a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission. Tri-Citys Stromwall scored another power-play goal, this time 1:40 into the second period tying the game at two. The Americans took their first lead of the game when Wilgosh scored at 7:02 of the third period but Shinkaruk scored for the Tigers at 8:51 to tie the game at three and force overtime.
